Faithfulness cont'd

b. He wants you to be faithful in the study of his word. Ps119:130 “The entrance of thy word giveth light and brings understanding to the simple” Ps119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” Read the bible, it will scare the devil out of you. He won’t come near you.
c. Be faithful in Church attendance Heb10:25. God doesn’t want shares of your life, he wants controlling interest.
d. Be faithful in your calling, be passionate about it, be very effective in your calling. Don’t be every where and non effective but rather focus on your calling and be effective in it. James 5:16 “The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”.
2Pet.1:10 “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling
And election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fail”
Romans11:13 “For I speak to you gentiles, in as much as I am the apostle of
the gentiles,I magnify my office”.

The problem with a lot of Christians is that we make a lot of excuses.
Luke14:16-24 emphasis vs. 18, the account in Mathew says they made light of it.

All the excuses are the same, we want to serve God at our convenience and not when God wants us to.
We make excuses not to do the work of God:
One thing I know about London is that if you want make excuses you will get one thousand and one excuses but if you want to work for God, you will surely find a way.
For example, I don’t have time, God understands, I don’t think I can do that, It’s too hard, when all is well with me.

We say things like,
I don’t have time, but time spent with God is never wasted.

I don’t think I can do that, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I need money! God says it is he that gives you power to get wealth Deut.8:18

It’s impossible! But God says all things are possible.

I am so tired but God says I will give you rest Mt.11:28-30

No body really loves me, but God says I love you Jn3:16

I can’t go on, God says my grace is sufficient for you. 2Cor.12:9

I am not able, God is able to make all grace abound towards you that ye always having all sufficiency in all things may abound to every good work 2Cor9:8

I can’t forgive myself, God says I forgive you 1John1:9

I just can’t manage, God says I will supply all your needs according to my riches in glory Phil4:19

I am afraid, God says I have not given you the spirit of fear 2Tim1:7, If God be for you, who can be against you?

I am worried and frustrated, God says cast all your care on me 1Peter5:7

I am not smart enough, I will give you wisdom 1Cor1:30

I feel all alone, I will never live you nor forsake you Heb.13:5

Prov3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct thy path.

We make excuses to sin:
We sometimes say turning from sin is a process when in fact we just don’t want to turn away and deny ourselves for God. I did my very best but I couldn’t control myself, show me the specific verse that says we can’t do that, even the bible says we should drink,

The truth is he won’t give us a temptation that is above what we can bear.

Listen to me Church he is coming for a bride whose dress is spotless and no one can climb over the fence we all have to go through the gate.

Some of us listen to worldly music making all kinds of excuses and it pollutes our minds with lust and reduces your resistance to sin.

Why do we put aside all the scriptures that encourage us to lead a holly life and just find that one scripture that we can wrongly interpret and pervet to encourage us live in sin.

He is coming for a bride without spot or wrinkle. He is coming for a people who are ready to go with him to his Kingdom.

The Bible says without holiness it is impossible to please God.

The Bible says for our sake he was whipped, a crown of thorns was put on his heard, his side was pierced for us and he was crucified for our sins. Let’s put aside all the excuses and serve God with all our heart soul and spirit.

Lets serve him diligently with all of our hearts

FAITHFULNESS

Col 4:12-13
Epaphras was one of them, no extra ordinary person, no special treatment or gift but he always laboured fervently.
His name is mentioned only twice in scripture i.e. Col 1:7 “As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellow servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ”

Pillar is a word used by the Jews for Teachers of the law and persons of great importance.
Pillars sustain buildings, they hold the whole building together so that the building does not fall or break down.
A pillar knowing its importance does not move away from its task and remains there until Kingdom come.

Epaphras was a pillar in the Church though many did not know much about him. He remained steadfast and fervently laboured in his calling. He travailed day and night to ensure that the people of God will stand perfect.

When God calls you, he calls you for a purpose. No one has been called to be a pew warmer. Which ever area God has called you, he expects you to labour fervently to ensure that the ministry is standing perfect before God. God didn’t call you in the Church come and go home. There is something that God can use you for.

He hasn’t called you to stand in the middle of the road; there is something that you can do. We know what happens to people who stand in the middle of the road, they get ran over by cars. You don’t want to get ran over by sin, by the enemy, and by lust. Rise up and make yourself count.

The bible says he laboured which means he took the patience to work hard at this.

Fervency means intensely sincere and passionate about something. God expects us to be passionate about his work and be sincere, work with the genuiness of your heart. Put all your heart in serving God. Serve him the way he wants you to.

You have to do your utmost best even if no one sees you, God sees you. He is not looking for people who make all kinds of excuses, he is looking for people who will avail themselves for him to use. God doesn’t look for your ability, he looks for you to avail yourself. It is when you have said here am I use me then he would use your ability. That is where we get the word availability from.

a. God expects us to be faithful in your prayer life. He expects to know every thing about you. He says in Isaiah 1:18 “come now and let us reason together, though your sins be as scarlet, they shall as white as snow”. Pray to God about everything and about where he has called you. 7days without prayer makes one weak. It’s hard to stumble when you are on your knees. You need to wait upon the Lord in prayer Isaiah40:31
